Code 01202 is used for the re-examination of a regular patient. It is inappropriate to bill a recall exam code in conjunction with a specific (01204) or emergency exam code (01206) should the patient mention a specific problem during a recall exam, it is still covered under the recall examination code.

The specific examination and diagnosis code (01204) is appropriately used for specific situations such as (but not limited to) lost fillings, broken dentures, TMJ examinations.
